Before you say ‘I do’

Joanne Adonis, wedding planner of JLA Weddings shares a few pointers on planning the most magical day of your life.

Firstly congratulations on getting engaged! Getting married is one of the most exciting times in life but can also be very stressful. Some key items to consider when planning your dream wedding.

  • Set your budget: wedding finances should be the first thing your partner and you discuss. Set a realistic budget on what you can afford. Weddings are expensive so avoid any pitfalls by sticking to your budget plan.
  • Decide on your priorities: what are the most important things to you and your husband-to-be? Is it a certain venue, style, or theme, splurging on flowers or inviting all two hundred of your closest family and friends? Deciding where to allocate more of your budget is vital to your wedding plan.
  • Ideas, style and theme: choose your favourite ideas, themes and styles and keep them in a folder. Create a mood board of everything you love. This helps with selecting the theme and style of wedding. Then decide on your colour scheme to bring all the elements together.
  • Find a venue: finding the perfect venue will start shaping your big day and what it ultimately will look like.
  • Send out your invites: with the venue booked and date set, you can send out those invites. Invites usually include an RSVP date so you can start planning the table seating.
  • Hiring your vendors team: wedding planner, celebrant, photographer, florist etc. A wedding planner or wedding day coordinator is highly recommended, followed by a celebrant, photographer, videographer, florist, and other vendors.
  • Finalise: now that you’ve already planned and purchased everything, you need to just finalise it. Make sure you call to confirm all your vendors, double-check the numbers and make sure everything is set and ready to go.

Lastly enjoy your day, creating beautiful memories.
